Ukraine Action Summit 2022 Washington, DC

In September of 2022, MN Ukrainian American Advocacy Committee along with forty two other organizations joined the American Coalition for Ukraine and participated in Ukraine Action Summit, a community advocacy summit on the Hill, from September 18th to September 20th. Over 270 advocates representing 110 Congressional districts in 33 states came to the Ukraine Action Summit in D.C. They attended 176 Congressional meetings during the two days of the summit.

Stop for a second and feel this number. 176 meetings! That’s more than 25% of the US Congress! And the vast majority of them are meetings in person with Members of Congress.

On behalf of MN Ukrainian community, MN UAAC thanked Senator Amy Klobuchar, Congresswoman McCollum, Congressman Phillips, Representative Fischbach, and Representative Stauber for their support and discussed the following topics: military assistance to Ukraine, financial assistance to Ukraine, sanctions against the Russian Federation.

We also discussed: the recognition of a sponsoring state of terrorism (it is clear which one), the recognition of the genocide, the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, visas, refugees, Ukrainian grain, and much, much more.

For the meeting with Representative Phillips, MN advocates were joined by the famous Ukrainian singer and winner of the Eurovision, Ruslana, and Vice President of Razom for Ukraine, Luba Shypovych who also advocated for support for Ukraine.

The MN Ukrainian American Advocacy Committee represents the Ukrainian American community in the State of Minnesota and coordinates Ukrainian community advocacy work. There are over 17,000 Ukrainians in the State of Minnesota.

The summit is one of the most significant events in the life of U.S. Ukrainian diaspora. Behind it is the grandiose work of organizers, volunteers, lawyers, and this work will continue.

Glory to Ukraine!
