HOLODOMOR: OUR HISTORY, OUR STORIES
85th Anniversary Commemoration of the Holodomor
The Ukrainian community of Minneapolis-St. Paul invites you to join in a solemn commemoration of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33 and an exploration of its impact across generations through oral histories of Minnesotans who lived through it, their children, and grandchildren.

HONORING VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS

– To honor a living Holodomor survivor, please email their name to [email protected] and share a photo.
– To honor a deceased Holodomor survivor or victim on the Wall of – Remembrance, please send their name, place of birth (city or town, oblast) and year of birth (if you know) and death to [email protected]. You may also send a photo. The wall will be made of individual paper tiles, which you may take home with you after the program.

KEYNOTE: “Transgenerational Consequences of the Holodomor: What Oral History Accounts from the Diaspora Tell Us”
Sophia Isajiw is the Assistant Director of Education of the Holodomor Research and Education Consortium (HREC) at the Canadian Institute for Ukrainian Studies, University of Alberta, with an office in Toronto. HREC Education furthers the research, study and teaching of the Holodomor through training workshops, educational resource development, promotion in education curricula, presentations and talks, lobbying and consulting. She is the Interviewer and Researcher for the Children of Holodomor Survivors Speak oral history project, initiated and conducted by the Ukrainian Canadian Research and Documentation Centre in Toronto, which is the first project in North America to interview the second generation of Holodomor survivors.

Hosted by the Twin Cities Holodomor Commemoration Committee with support from many local area organizations.
